A friend
A friend is a person with whom you can share
your deepest, darkest secrets
You can put your heart in the palm of their hand
and know that safely they will keep it
You can lay your head on their shoulder
when your tears fall down like rain
And they'll dance with you in joyous freedom
when your life is right again
Another poem written by Betty Russell
The Orphan's Song
There is no love, no love in walking by
Don't you see the silent tears I cry
All alone, full of fear
There is nobody near
What shall I do, will I die
Don't you know, know the way I hurt
How I hunger and forage in the dirt
How I pray
Everyday
Please help me have some worth
I want to live, live another day
Be a child, again to laugh and play
Have a home
To call my own
And when I go to sleep know I am safe
Can you help, help me smile again
Will you make this nightmare finally end
Just love me
You will see
Someday I just may be your best friend
